Apple’s new reward program
Apple has made significant changes to its security bounty program and announced that researchers who find serious bugs in its software will be rewarded up to $2 million. This new policy will come into effect from November 2025.
According to the company, researchers who discover exploit chains that can hack devices without any user interaction will receive a reward of up to $2 million. Additionally, if a bug is found in the beta software or a bypass that can hack the web browser Safari and lockdown mode, the reward amount could exceed $5 million.
Researchers who find exploits with just one click can now earn up to $1 million, up from $250,000 previously. Additionally, attacks that can be carried out while being close to the device will also receive a reward of $1 million. If a bug requires physical access to the device, a reward of up to $50,000 will be offered.
Apple has also included within the scope of the reward those bugs that break the system’s sandbox protection layer through web code execution. A reward of up to $300,000 has been offered for such attacks.
