Luke Littler was brought crashing back down to Earth by Beau Greaves just hours after winning the World Grand Prix final. It looked like the teenager's sensational form was lining him up for the prospect of facing having to play two finals in one evening next month – but that possibility has now been dashed.
Littler is fresh off winning his seventh PDC major televised title after thumping Luke Humphries in the World Grand Prix final on Sunday night. Gerwyn Price was on the verge of knocking Littler out of the quarter-finals on Friday evening before the latter stormed back and won the match with a stunning 152 checkout.
Unsurprisingly, he met Humphries in the final, but no repeat of his semi-final struggles was on display as he raced into a 3-0 lead.

Humphries did get on the board in the next set but Littler won the following three to be crowned champion and claim £120,000 in prize money.
The World Darts Championships is fast approaching, although Littler won't have the opportunity to win the World Youth Championship ahead of competing for darts' biggest prize.
Littler skipped last years' World Youth Championship, but confirmed he would be back in Wigan this time. "I'll head to the World Youths and see everyone and have a bit of fun," he revealed to Sky Sports on Sunday after triumphing in the World Grand Prix.
"I don't think anyone is going to be my friend, but it's 20 minutes up the road and I will try my best. I could have had the day off, but why not? Play the World Youth, then two ProTours in Wigan and have the weekend off."
While the 18-year-old made it through to the semi-finals on Monday, it was 21-year-old Greaves who ultimately brought his run of victories to an end as she prevailed 6-5 in a thrilling contest.

Littler's appetite for the sport certainly cannot be questioned, but he will now not have to contend with an even busier schedule in November.
The final of the World Youth Championship – between Greaves and reigning champion Gian van Veen – is due to take place on Sunday, November 23.
On the very same day, the Players Championship Finals in Minehead are also scheduled. Littler is looking for his first Players Championship win, with Humphries triumphing in the past two editions to take home the £120,000 top prize.
Meanwhile, the winner of the World Youth Championship will bank £12,000. The tournament can be entered by players between the ages of 16-23, so Littler could still make many more appearances in the future.
Littler is clearly very keen to become the greatest in darts, with the rankings gap to world No.1 Humphries closing.
"This is my time and I've just got to keep going," said Littler at a news conference after his victory," he admitted at a press conference.
"Obviously, until I get that world number one spot, I will never call myself the best in the world.
"Whoever's number one, they're the best. But knowing I'm only £70,000 in prize money behind Luke, and then he's got to defend all of his prize money from the Grand Prix, the Players Championships and the World Championship.
"I don't want to think about it too much, but I could be world number one before that World Championship."
The world No 2 is scheduled to feature in the Players Championship events in Wigan on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, he will not travel to Hildesheim for this weekend's German Darts Championship.
