Team India captain Shubman Gill posted his maiden series win as Test captain and his third successive victory in this format with a seven-wicket victory over West Indies in the 2nd Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday. Chasing 121 to complete a 2-0 series whitewash Indians completed the chase after losing a couple of wickets on Day 5 morning. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 58 his 20th fifty in Test cricket while wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel was unbeaten on 6 as Indians completed the win in the 36th over of the innings. Gill who had taken charge ahead of five-match Test series against England earlier this year achieved his first series win as skipper while it was India’s second Test series win under head Gautam Gambhir after beating Bangladesh at home last year. Rahul who had scored a century in first Test at Ahmedabad remained unbeaten on 58 off 108 balls with 2 sixes and 6 fours. West Indies skipper Roston Chase picked up a couple of wickets on the final morning to delay the inevitable. Chase dismissed Sai Sudharsan for 39 (76b 5x4) thanks to a brilliant catch at slip by Shai Hope. He also picked up the wicket of Indian skipper Gill who perished in his efforts to end the game early for 13 with one six and one four in his knock. “Captaincy a big honour getting used to it managing players all of it.
