Who is IPS Omprakash Singh?

Omprakash Singh is a 1991 batch IPS officer who will now replace DGP Shatrujit Kapoor. Singh is going to retire on December 31 this year. That means he will remain the Director General of Police of the state only for two months. Omprakash Singh is a senior IPS officer of Haryana cadre, Singh was awarded the Police Medal in 2008 and President Police Medal for distinguished service in 2017. He has worked as a special advisor to former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

Omprakash Singh is a native of Noomar village in Jamui district of Bihar. He is the elder brother-in-law of film actor late Sushat Singh Rajput. Sushant Singh Rajput studied at Singh's place after his mother's death. Sushat Rajput's cousin Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu is the current MLA from Chhatapur Legislative Assembly of Bihar and Environment and Forest Minister in Nitish Kumar government.

What is the whole matter of suicide of IPS Y Puran Kumar?

Haryana ADGP and senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar committed suicide by shooting himself with a service gun in the basement of his Chandigarh house. Before dying, he had left a signed note in the name of his wife, which contains the names of about a dozen IAS-IPS officers of the state including Haryana DGP Shatrujit Kapoor. He has held these officers responsible for his death. According to the note, these officers have subjected Puran Kumar to caste-based, mental and social torture. Now the state government has removed Rohtak SP and DGP from the post. Action is also going on against the remaining officers.

Who is IPS Shatrujeet Kapoor who was removed from the post of DGP?

Shatrujeet Kapoor is a 1990 batch IPS officer. He is originally from Phagwara, Punjab. He has done B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering in Education. After this passed the UPSC exam. After training in 1992, Kapoor was first posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Gurugram. Shatrujit Singh is the favorite officer of former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal. In August 2023, Shatrujit Kapoor was made DGP by the Khattar government, ignoring the seniority of the two officers.
