12 passengers died and many were seriously injured after a massive fire broke out in a private bus going to Jodhpur in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed grief over the accident and gave instructions for better treatment of the injured.

Jaisalmer, October 14: A terrible road accident took place in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan on Tuesday. A private bus going from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur suddenly caught fire near the War Museum. The 57 passengers on board the bus were frightened by the suddenly spreading fire and started screaming. According to the information revealed, 12 passengers lost their lives, while many suffered serious burns.

Efforts to find out the true cause of the accident

Eyewitnesses said that as soon as the bus reached the Tower Museum, smoke started coming out, within a few moments the fire engulfed the entire vehicle. Some of the passengers saved their lives by jumping from windows and doors, but many remained trapped inside. This emergency situation was immediately informed to the police and fire brigade.

Rapid relief work and treatment of seriously injured passengers

Police and fire brigade teams immediately reached the spot and succeeded in extinguishing the fire. The injured passengers were taken to Jawahar Hospital in three ambulances. 17 burnt passengers were admitted to the hospital, out of which 12 died during treatment. As the condition of the rest was critical, he was referred to Jodhpur.

In the investigation, short circuit is being considered as the primary cause.

Assistant Fire Officer Krishnapal Singh Rathod said that in the initial investigation the cause of the fire could be short circuit. He said that the investigation of the entire incident is going on and necessary security measures are being considered.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed deep sorrow

Expressing deep grief over the accident, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma ordered Jaisalmer Collector and Superintendent of Police to ensure treatment of the injured and all kinds of assistance to the victims. The Chief Minister is keeping an eye on the situation in the affected areas and can visit the district if needed.
