Now Indian apps are giving tough competition to foreign companies. After Zoho’s app Arattai now another Indian app Mappls is gaining attention now. Almost everyone now uses Google Maps while traveling anywhere in the world. However Google Maps has an Indian challenger named as Mappls. Ashwini Vaishnaw Tests Swadeshi Mappls Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tried the Swadeshi navigation application Mappls by MapmyIndia in his car and appreciated its features urging people to try the app. In a social media post the minister shared his experience with the indigenous mapping platform and highlighted some of its advanced features. Journey Of Mappls Many might not know that the company behind Mappls MapmyIndia actually started long before Google Maps. The need for reliable digital maps in India was recognized by engineer and MapmyIndia co-founder Rakesh Verma. Rakesh Verma completed his engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani and later went to the Eastern Washington University in the U.S. for his MBA. He began his career in the U.S. where he worked with General Motors and contributed to the Saturn car project. This experience helped him develop his technical and managerial skills. But later he realized that India has immense potential for digital mapping in a space where no platform offered advanced reliable mapping technology at the time. What Mappls Offer? Rakesh Verma returned to India and founded MapmyIndia with the goal of creating high-quality digital maps with advanced features. Moving forward with this vision the company launched the Mappls app which offers navigation in multiple Indian languages real-time traffic and signal updates and even 3D mapping capabilities.
