Make crispy chakli on Diwali, perfect snack recipe ready in minutes

Crispy Chakli Recipe: It is a traditional Indian snack, made especially during festivals like Diwali in Maharashtra, Karnataka and parts of South India. It is a crisp, tasty and long lasting snack, which is known as Chakli or Murukku in many places.

Today we will tell you an easy recipe of Maharashtrian style chakli, which you can prepare and feed to everyone on Diwali.

Crispy Chakli Recipe

Material (Crispy Chakli Recipe)

  • Rice flour – 2 cups
  • Urad dal flour – ½ cup (roasted)
  • Sesame (white) – 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin – 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida – 1 pinch
  • salt to taste
  • Butter – 2 tbsp
  • Water – as required (for kneading the dough)
  • Oil – for frying

Method (Crispy Chakli Recipe)

  1. Sieve rice flour and urad dal flour in a big vessel. Add sesame, cumin, red chili powder, asafoetida, salt and butter in it. Mix everything well so that the butter dissolves well in the flour.
  2. Now gradually add water little by little and knead a hard but smooth dough. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Place a star shaped plate in the chakli/murukku maker. Take the dough and make round chaklis on buttered paper or plate.
  4. Heat oil in a pan (oil should not be too hot, it should be medium hot). Now fry the chakli on low flame until it becomes golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the fried chakli on tissue paper and let it cool.

Your delicious and crispy chakli is ready, which will add to the happiness of Diwali.
