
The experienced batter of the Sri Lanka National Women's Cricket Team, Nilakshika Silva, managed to secure the record for the fastest half-century of the tournament during the cup match against New Zealand held yesterday (14) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Fastest Fifty: Nilakshika reached her half-century in just 26 balls.
Previous Record: This broke the previous record of 34 balls set by Shorna Akter of Bangladesh earlier in the same tournament.
Entering the crease as the number 6 batter when the Sri Lankan innings was in a difficult position, Nilakshika scored an unbeaten 55 runs off 28 balls.
Her innings included seven fours and one six.
ODI Milestone: During this exceptional inning, Nilakshika Silva also achieved the significant milestone of surpassing 1,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket.
