The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a bonus for approximately 14.82 lakh employees in the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government has allocated a budget of ₹1,022 crore. Employees up to Level 8 of the Pay Matrix will receive a maximum bonus of ₹6,908 based on 30 days' salary.

The Rajasthan government is not far behind.
The Rajasthan government has also made a major announcement before Diwali. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced an ad hoc bonus for approximately 6 lakh employees in the state. This bonus will apply to employees up to Pay Level L-12 or Grade Pay ₹4,800. Eligible employees will receive a maximum bonus of ₹6,774. This includes Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad employees.

Will bonuses be taxed?
Many people think that festive bonuses are tax-free. However, the reality is that cash bonuses are considered part of their salary and are subject to income tax in the same manner as other salaries. This means that if an employee receives a bonus of ₹30,000, this amount will be added to their annual income and taxed accordingly.
