Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi took oath as the deputy chief minister after the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state carried out a Cabinet reshuffle. Sanghvi, 40, became the youngest person to hold the post in Gujarat.

Two hundred and ten Maoists, including a central committee member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Jagdalpur. Among those who surrendered were four members of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, 21 from the divisional committee and 61 from area committees of the banned organisation.
