Three budding cricketers from Afghanistan have tragically died in air strikes carried out by Pakistani military regime in Pakistan’s Paktika province. The three players were on their way to attend a local gathering after a friendly match when the attack took place. This incident has not only plunged the cricket world into mourning, but has also deepened the growing tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) condemned the attack on social media, calling it a “cowardly attack by the Pakistani regime”. ACB has refused to participate in the upcoming triangular cricket series to be held in Pakistan after this incident. Afghanistan was to participate in a tri-series with Sri Lanka in Lahore and Rawalpindi from November 5 to November 29, but the ACB withdrew its name after this attack.

The three cricketers killed in this air strike have been identified as Kabir, Sibgatullah, and Haroon. These three players were the rising youth of Afghanistan and were working hard to make their mark in cricket.

Kabir: Coming from Urgun district of Paktika province of Afghanistan, Kabir was a brilliant bowler and batsman. His dream was to become a contributing player like Mohammad Nabi to the Afghanistan national cricket team.

Sibgatulla: Sibgatullah, who was the idol of Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan, also had a dream to make his mark in international cricket. He was a rising star whose cricketing journey had all eyes on him.

Aaron: Haroon Khan was born on 15 March 2006 in Kabul. He had made a name for himself at the club level with his batting. Haroon had performed brilliantly in domestic and age-group cricket tournaments. He was a right-handed batsman and was working hard to get a place in the national team.

The incident is part of rising tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which escalated after Afghan forces attacked Pakistani military posts on October 11. After this, Pakistan carried out air strikes in Paktika province of Afghanistan, due to which this incident occurred. The attack has also affected the peace process between the two countries, especially when the two sides were holding talks in Doha. The Afghanistan Cricket Board strongly condemned the attack and described it as a barbaric act. ACB officials and everyone from the cricket world are mourning this tragic incident.
