Farmers are the backbone of agricultural economy: Shivraj Singh Chauhan

Gorakhpur, 18 October (Read News). On Saturday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan organized Kisan Chaupal in Dumri Khurd, the revolutionary land of Chaurichaura. During this, he interacted with the farmers on problems to crops and agriculture. Farmers shared their problems, to which the Agriculture Minister assured their solution.

During Chaupal, the Agriculture Minister first reached the stage, but then came down from the stage and sat on the cot and interacted with the farmers from there. He said that agriculture is the backbone of the country’s economy and farmers are its soul. Farmers are food givers and food givers are the form of God.

The Union Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is taking many historic steps in the interest of farmers. The support price of wheat has been increased by Rs 160 to Rs 2585, that of gram has been increased by ₹ 225, that of lentil by ₹ 300 and that of mustard by ₹ 250. He said that there is a need to promote integrated agriculture along with the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds.

The minister appealed to the farmers to engage in alternative activities like animal husbandry, beekeeping, goat rearing and poultry farming along with cultivation of fruits, flowers, gram, lentils, mustard. He said that by forming an FPO, thousands of farmers should join together to strengthen their own economy. The central government is giving all possible support to the FPOs.

On this occasion, State Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi informed the farmers about the government schemes. He said that farmers should register online and get benefits. 50 percent subsidy is being given on DBW-303 and 222 varieties. Also told that wheat is being made available at the government rate of ₹24, gram at ₹52 and peas at ₹36 per kg.

He also informed that mustard mini kits will be distributed to five thousand farmers of Gorakhpur district.

Earlier, Union Minister of State Kamlesh Paswan welcomed the Agriculture Minister by giving him a blouse and a bouquet. State President of Kisan Morcha Kameshwar Singh, Regional President Sahajanand Rai, BJP District President Janardan Tiwari, MLA E. Sarvan Nishad and other leaders also welcomed him.

Salute to the martyrs, instructions for beautification of the memorial

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan reached Chauri Chaura Martyr Memorial and paid tribute to the brave sons. He gave instructions to repair the broken pillar there and said that this historical land of Chaurichaura makes him feel proud.

During this, MLA E. Sarwan Nishad, Bansgaon MLA Dr. Vimlesh Paswan and DM Deepak Meena expressed displeasure over the plight of the martyr memorial and reprimanded the officials of the tourism department. MLA Dr. Paswan said, “If there is no budget, then take it from us and get the memorial beautified.”

Under the leadership of MLA E. Sarwan Nishad, Nishad Party workers gave a grand welcome to the Agriculture Minister with flower garlands by installing bulldozers. The minister expressed his gratitude to the workers for this honour.

The Union Minister inspected the stalls set up by the Department of Agriculture, Child Development and Nutrition, where the officials informed the farmers about the use of agricultural equipment and schemes.

After this, Shivraj Singh Chauhan worshiped and planted saplings at the Shiv Temple and Mata Temple located in Dumri Khurd. He said, “Every person must plant a tree in the name of his mother.” He himself also planted trees and said that planting more trees should become the goal of life. During the programme, the Union Minister also performed Annaprashan Sanskar for the children.

District President Janardan Tiwari, Nagar Panchayat President Sunny Jaiswal, Kameshwar Singh, Dr. Satya Prakash Dubey, Omprakash Dhar Dwivedi, DM Deepak Meena, SSP Rajkaran Nayyar, CDO Shaswat Tripurari, SDM Kunwar Sachin Singh, CO Anurag Singh, Tehsildar Satya Prakash Gupta, Naib Tehsildar Sanjay Singh and officials of the Agriculture Department and hundreds of farmers were present in the program.
