Method and mantra of Lakshmi puja on Diwali

- 20th October, Monday i.e. Diwali, wake up early in the morning, take bath etc. and take a resolution of worship with water, rice and flowers in your hand. Maintain the purity of the house throughout the day i.e. do not bring any impure thing like meat, liquor etc. into the house.
- Clean the place selected for worship thoroughly and purify it by sprinkling Ganga water. Before the auspicious time, collect all the puja materials at one place. Wear clean clothes. Make a big bed on which the whole family can sit.
- During the auspicious time, first of all install a wooden stool at the place of worship and spread a red cloth over it. Place the idol or picture of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Shri Ganesha along with Goddess Saraswati on it. Also keep an urn filled with water on the post.
- Make a Swastika with Kumkum on a Kalash filled with water and tie Mauli. Now place coconut on it. Apply tilak on coconut. Apply tilak to all the established deities, offer rice and garland them with flowers.
- Sprinkle water on the puja material by chanting the mantra given below-
Om impure: pavitro va sarvasthaam gatopi va.
य: स्मरेत पुन्दरिकाक्षं स बयहाभ्यान्तर: शुचीः.
- Light a lamp of pure ghee and also light incense sticks at the post itself. Apart from this, fill 11 or 21 lamps with oil and keep them. Keep offering things like Abir, Gulal, turmeric, sandalwood etc. to Goddess Lakshmi, Saraswati and Shri Ganesh one by one.
- Offer lotus flower to Goddess Lakshmi. Sprinkle perfume on all the gods and goddesses and offer paan. After this, offer fruits and sweets as per your wish. If possible, also offer kheer made from cow's milk.
- Light all the lamps one by one. After this, all the family members together perform the Aarti of Goddess Lakshmi and other Gods and Goddesses as per the rituals. After Aarti, take water in your hand and drop it on the earth and chant this mantra-
Om Anen Yathashaktyarchanen Sri Mahalakshmi: Prasidatu.
- After this, take rice in your hand and while leaving it on the ground, chant this mantra-
Yantu Devgana: Sarve Poojamadaya Mamakim.
Ishtakamasmriddhiyartha punaragamnaya ch.
Thus, worshiping Goddess Lakshmi, Saraswati and Lord Shri Ganesha on Diwali brings happiness and prosperity in the house. Keep in mind that the main lamp lit during puja should remain burning throughout the night. Pick it up the next day.
