Pakistan-Afghanistan War 2025: Tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan has increased once again. Recently, the Pakistani Army carried out an air strike in some areas of Afghanistan, in which three young Afghan cricketers were killed. After this incident, there was a wave of mourning in the entire cricket world and many legends strongly condemned the attack. The Afghanistan Cricket Board also issued a statement criticizing the attack and refused to play the scheduled triangular series with Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) also termed the attack as unfortunate and expressed grief over the demise of Afghan cricketers. But this statement of ICC did not go well with the Pakistan government. Pakistani Information Minister Ata Tarar openly targeted the ICC and accused it of bias.

Pakistan called ICC’s statement biased

Pakistani Information Minister Ata Tarar issued a statement on Sunday saying that the ICC gave a unilateral statement without independently verifying the claims of the Afghanistan Cricket Board. He alleged that “the ICC has tried to blame Pakistan without investigating, while Pakistan was not even named in its statement.” Tarar said that Pakistan completely rejects this statement of ICC and strongly condemns it. He said that an organization like ICC should not get involved in any political dispute and should take any action only after verifying the facts.

Pakistan itself a victim of terrorism- Ata Tarar

The Information Minister further said that Pakistan itself has been the biggest victim of terrorism and the country has fought against terrorism for years. He alleged that ICC’s attitude is not impartial and this raises serious questions on its independence.

Tarar also said that a few hours after ICC’s statement, its President Jay Shah repeated the same words on his social media account, which proves that ICC is working under someone’s influence.

Cricket dispute increases between Afghanistan and Pakistan

Cricket relations between the two countries have become further strained after the Afghanistan Cricket Board decided to withdraw from the tri-series. The Afghan board says it will give priority to the safety of its players. At the same time, the Government of Pakistan believes that this entire controversy is being unnecessarily given a political colour.

Pakistan has demanded the ICC to withdraw its statement and conduct an independent investigation of the facts. On the other hand, the Afghanistan board is firm on its stand and has said that “we will not let the martyrdom of our players go in vain.”
