National News: Tej Pratap Yadav is once again in the news in Bihar politics. After expulsion from Rashtriya Janata Dal, he filed nomination from Mahua assembly seat under the banner of his new party Janashakti Janata Dal. At the time of nomination, he carried a photograph of his late grandmother and described the move as an attempt to send an emotional message. This step is not only a rebellion against RJD but also an attempt to reassert its political hold.

According to the affidavit filed, Tej Pratap Yadav has total assets worth Rs 2.88 crore. This includes movable property worth Rs 91.65 lakh and immovable property worth Rs 1.96 crore. Interestingly, in 2020 he had declared movable assets worth Rs 1.22 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 1.6 crore. That is, this time there has been a decrease in movable property while the price of landed property has increased slightly.

Eight criminal cases registered

It also became clear in the affidavit that there are eight criminal cases registered against Tej Pratap Yadav. These include serious sections 302, 324, 120B and 341 of IPC. Apart from this, cases like dowry harassment, SC-ST Act and Arms Act are also registered. However, till now he has not been convicted in any case. His divorce case from wife Aishwarya Rai is currently pending in the family court of Patna, hence his details were not included in the affidavit.

Lalu had expelled

In May 2025, Tej Pratap was expelled from the party for six years by his father and RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav. The reason given was ‘irresponsible behaviour’. After this decision, Tej Pratap formed a new party named Janashakti Janata Dal and is now contesting the elections on its ticket. This step of his is being considered as the biggest test of his political future.

Tej Pratap Yadav’s political journey has always been surrounded by controversies. Sometimes his statements created controversy and sometimes his personal life brought him into the limelight. Some time ago he had claimed on social media that he is in a relationship with a woman. After this the party took strict action and expelled him. Later Tej Pratap said that his account was hacked.

Became MLA in 2020

Tej Pratap Yadav became RJD MLA from Mahua seat in 2020. After this he got a chance to contest elections from Hasanpur seat also. Despite his ups and downs career, he is one of the popular leaders of Bihar. This time again by contesting from Mahua, he is trying to prove the credibility of his new party.

Bihar Assembly elections 2025 are going to be very interesting this time. Voting will be held in the state in two phases – on November 6 and November 11.
