News India Live, Digital Desk: Heart Blockage : Whenever bottle gourd (Ghiya) is prepared at home, people often start shrinking their nose and mouth. It is often considered a ‘boring’ vegetable for patients. But do you know that this simple looking vegetable is no less than nectar for your heart? Yes, just one glass of fresh bottle gourd juice every morning can save your life and keep you away from deadly diseases like heart attack.
Due to today’s busy life and poor eating habits, problems like blocked veins, increased cholesterol and high blood pressure have become common, which directly affect the heart. In such a situation, bottle gourd juice can prove to be a cheap and effective home remedy.
How does bottle gourd juice work?
- Cleans the veins: Such elements are found in bottle gourd juice, which help in thinning the blood and clearing the bad cholesterol (LDL) accumulated in the veins. When the veins are clean, blood flows easily to the heart, which reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.
- Keeps blood pressure under control: Bottle gourd is rich in potassium, which is very important to control increased blood pressure. Keeping BP under control reduces the extra pressure on the heart.
- Improves acidity and digestion: Bottle gourd has a cooling effect and is very beneficial for the stomach. It calms acidity and keeps the digestive system healthy. Good digestion is directly linked to a healthy body and heart.
- Keep the body cool: It contains a very high amount of water (about 90%), which helps in keeping the body hydrated and cool.
How to make and when to drink?
- Take a fresh and raw bottle gourd, peel it and cut it into small pieces.
- Put it in a mixer or juicer and extract its juice.
- Keep in mind: Do not add salt to this juice even by mistake and do not boil it. It has to be drunk absolutely fresh.
- The best time to drink is in the morning on an empty stomach. Drinking one glass (about 200 ml) of juice daily is enough.
An important precaution:
Before making juice, taste a small piece of bottle gourd. If bottle gourd tastes bitter, do not use it at all. Bitter gourd juice can be dangerous for health.
So next time you see bottle gourd in the market, do not mistake it for just a vegetable. For the health of yourself and your family, definitely include it in your diet. This small change can save you from major heart diseases.
