Muhurat Trading 2025 For the Indian stock market, Diwali is not just a festival but a celebration of new beginnings. Dalal Street is currently bustling with activity and investors are waiting for the most auspicious trading session of the year. This year, on the occasion of Diwali, a special event of 'Muhurat Trading' is being organized on Tuesday, 21 October 2025. But this time a big change has happened which has attracted everyone's attention.
Every year it's special trading session (Special Trading Session) used to be held late at night or in the evening, but this time this 1 hour special trading will be held during the day time. This change is a bit different from tradition, but the enthusiasm of investors has not diminished.
After all, why is this special 'trading' of 1 hour?
Diwali is not only considered the festival of lights but also the beginning of the Hindu New Year. This is called 'Samvat'. Just as businessmen start their new accounts on this day, similarly stock market investors also consider this day to be the most sacred for new beginnings of investment.
'Muhurat' means 'auspicious time'. It is believed that investment made during this auspicious time of 1 hour brings good luck and prosperity. This session is not just for earning profits but is more important for maintaining a tradition. Many investors buy some shares on this day, even if in small quantities, and keep them in their portfolio for the long term. In a way, this is like giving 'shagun' of the market in the new Samvat. This is the reason why the eyes of the entire country are fixed on this one-hour business.
How has been the 10 year 'report card' of Muhurta Trading?
If we look at the last 10 Muhurat trading sessions of the benchmark index Nifty 50, 8 times the market has closed in the green with gains. That means 8 times out of 10 investors have made money on this day. The mood of the market has been mostly positive.
This happened only twice when the market closed with a decline. Last time in the year 2017, Nifty had registered a slight decline of 0.63%. But since then the market has not looked back. For the last seven consecutive years, the market has given positive returns to investors on Muhurta trading. During this period, Nifty has given an average return of 0.35%. The Muhurat session of the year 2022 was the best session of the last decade, when the market had made a strong jump of 0.87%.
Market 'rocket' even before Diwali
This year, the enthusiasm regarding Muhurat trading is high because the current market sentiment is very strong. The glow of Diwali has already started appearing in the market. If we look at just the last four trading sessions, Nifty 50 has achieved a tremendous gain of more than 750 points.
A kind of 'bull run' is being seen in the market even before Diwali. This strong momentum is indicating that a positive platform has been set for Muhurta trading. When the market is already so bullish, the expectations from the special session increase further.
Market experts are also 'bullish'
Experts believe that the market environment remains positive and this sentiment may become even stronger for Muhurat trading. Vishnu Kant Upadhyay, AVP, Research and Advisory, Master Capital Services, said that the market sentiment is very positive with strong technical indicators and continuously improving fundamental factors. Investors' confidence is returning.
