MUMBAI: Actor Parineeti Chopra and Indian politician Raghav Chadha welcomed their first child, a baby boy, the couple shared in a common statement on Sunday.
The news, posted on social media, was the ecstatic start to a new phase in the lives of the couple, who got married in September 2023 in an extravagant wedding in Udaipur.
“Finally, he’s here, our baby boy! We can’t remember what life was like before this moment. Our arms are full, and our hearts even fuller,” the couple wrote in an emotional post on their official handles. “It was once just the two of us, and now we have everything,” the message continued, conveying their joy and gratitude.
In minutes of the news, the post went viral, receiving an overflow of love and congratulatory wishes from fans, Bollywood fraternity, and public figures. Celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Kiara Advani, and Arjun Kapoor were a few to be among the first ones to wish the new parents with warm congratulations.
The couple’s followers overwhelmed social media with congratulatory messages, dubbing the arrival “the best news of the year.” Hashtags like #ParineetiRaghavBabyBoy and #ChopraChadhaFamily started trending on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram as soon as the news was out.
Parineeti, with a portfolio of movies like Ishaqzaade, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, and Uunchai, had dropped her pregnancy announcement in August this year, posting updates of her maternity life on Instagram.
The marriage of the actor to Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha had been among the most discussed Bollywood weddings of 2023. The wedding, which took place at Udaipur’s Leela Palace and Udai Vilas, was witnessed by close relatives and friends, among whom were Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The couple, who have kept a low profile since tying the knot, had previously expressed their joy at becoming parents in pre-wedding interviews, calling their relationship one founded on “friendship, trust, and values.”
Well-wishers and fans are still rejoicing over the news online, with many terming the arrival of the baby boy “a symbol of hope and happiness during uncertain times.”
