WhatsApp may soon stop businesses and strangers from spamming your inbox

WhatsApp is the preferred messaging platform for billions of users worldwide, and the Meta-owned app regularly rolls out new features to make it more intuitive and user-friendly.

The instant messaging app, which offers a quick and easy way to text your personal contacts, has become complex and cluttered in the last few years with features like communities, groups, and other additions. With these changes, WhatsApp users often find themselves getting bombarded by spam messages from businesses and unknown people and may find it hard to catch up with all of their notifications.

It appears that Meta is aware of the issue and is working on a new method to limit the number of messages businesses and individuals can send to unknown recipients without receiving a reply. According to a recent report by TechCrunch, all messages business owners and individuals send to others will be counted against the new messaging limit until they get a response from the user. For example, if you send someone three messages, it will be a part of the limit.

The publication also says that WhatsApp hasn’t clarified what the messaging limit will be, as it is actively testing different limits. Also, when businesses or individuals are about to hit the limit, they will get a warning message on their device, which will let them know that they won’t be able to send any more messages.

The report also states that Meta will be testing the new limits in multiple countries in the upcoming weeks and that most of the users won’t be affected by the change. Instead, the move seems to be aimed at limiting businesses and individuals who send multiple spam messages in a day.

For years, WhatsApp has been trying to combat the problem of spam messages by implementing various limits and introducing a bunch of new features. Earlier this year, the Meta-owned instant messaging app said it would soon limit the number of broadcasts businesses and individuals can send.
