In recent times, online scams and fraud cases have increased. In response, Meta has launched anti-scam features for all its platforms, including WhatsApp and Instagram.

Chatting on Meta's platforms, including WhatsApp and Instagram, is now becoming safer. The company has launched new features to protect people from scams. These features have been specifically designed with senior citizens in mind. It's worth noting that online scams have increased significantly recently, and scammers are increasingly targeting senior citizens.

This feature is available for WhatsApp.

On WhatsApp, users will now see an alert if they share their screen during a video call with an unknown caller. Scammers often target people through video calls in cases of digital arrests, and this could be a useful feature. Regarding Messenger, the company is developing an AI-powered scam detection tool for chats. In this, users will be able to send their chats with new contacts for AI review. If any threats are detected, the user will be provided with appropriate guidance.

Passkey support for all Meta platforms

Meta has rolled out Passkey support for all its platforms, including Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp. Users can sign in using device-level authentication methods like face verification or fingerprint. Meta has also urged people to use Security Checkup on Facebook and Instagram and Privacy Checkup on WhatsApp.

Will run a campaign in collaboration with the government

Meta said it will launch the "Scam Se Bachao" campaign in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications. This campaign will educate senior citizens on how to identify and avoid scams through video content. Additionally, the company will support the Saksham Senior campaign, which conducts digital literacy and safety sessions for senior citizens.
