WhatsApp New Feature: Meta-owned WhatsApp is now preparing to curb the growing spam and unwanted messages in chats. The company is testing a new feature that could soon limit those who repeatedly send messages to users who don't reply.
New Limit Feature for Spam Control
According to a report by WABetaInfo, this WhatsApp feature is designed to make chatting more balanced and authentic. Once launched, this rule will apply to both regular users and business accounts. If a user repeatedly messages someone who doesn't respond, they may face a message limit.
WhatsApp will also send a notification alert indicating when you are nearing or exceeding your monthly message limit. This will allow users to easily track their chat patterns.
Exceeding the limit may result in a temporary ban.
Under the new feature, a new option will be added to the app's settings, allowing users to see how many new chats they have started this month. It's important to note that this limit will not apply to ongoing chats, meaning you can continue chatting with those you're already communicating with without any restrictions. However, if a user exceeds this limit, they may be temporarily blocked from sending messages to strangers. Furthermore, messages that receive a reply will not count towards the limit, meaning active chats will not be affected.
Several efforts have been made to reduce spam in the past.
WhatsApp has been continuously introducing new features to curb spam and fake messaging on its platform over the past few years. Users now have easy options to block anyone, unsubscribe from marketing updates, and leave unwanted groups. Additionally, bulk messaging limits have been set for new accounts to prevent abuse of the platform.
