After the Central Government, now the states have also started the process of increasing the dearness allowance of their employees and pensioners. Till now, there has been a change in the rates of dearness allowance and relief of employees and pensioners of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Gujarat, Tripura, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka.

Apart from this, orders have also been issued to increase the dearness relief of 4.50 lakh pensioners of Madhya Pradesh. However, 7.50 lakh employees of Madhya Pradesh are still waiting for increase in dearness allowance. It is expected that soon CM Dr. Mohan Yadav can give this good news to the employees.

DA HIKE 2025: Dearness allowance will increase by 3 percent in Madhya Pradesh

At present, the employees of Madhya Pradesh are getting the benefit of 55 percent dearness allowance from January 2025 and now another 3 percent increase is expected from July 2025. There are reports that CM Mohan Yadav may announce dearness allowance in the Rajyotsav to be held on the foundation day of the state this week or on November 1. After this, dearness allowance will increase from 55 to 58 percent from July. The new rates will be applicable from July, hence arrears for July, August and September will also be available. Let us tell you that in the budget for the year 2025-26, a provision of 64 percent has been made for dearness allowance and relief. Currently payment is being made at the rate of 55 percent.

Madhya Pradesh: Dearness relief for pensioners has increased

Mohan Yadav government of Madhya Pradesh has given a big gift to 4.50 lakh pensioners and has increased the dearness relief by 2 to 6 percent. The state government has increased the rate of dearness relief for pensioners availing the benefit of the sixth pay scale by 6 percent from 246% to 252%. At the same time, DR of pensioners taking advantage of the seventh pay scale has been increased by 2 percent from 53% to 55%. The new rates will be applicable from September 2025, so the benefit of increased pension amount in the account will start coming from October. The Finance Department has also issued orders in this regard. Here, Madhya Pradesh Officers, Employees and Pensioners United Front has demanded from the state government to increase the dearness relief of pensioners by three percent from July 2025 along with paying the arrears from July to September.

What is dearness allowance?

Dearness Allowance is the additional payment that the Central and State Governments give to their employees and pensioners to reduce the impact of inflation. This is a part of the salary, which is increased from time to time on the basis of inflation rate. It is decided according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The Central Government changes the rates of dearness allowance and relief of central employees and pensioners twice every year, which is based on the half yearly data of All India Consumer Price Index Index. These increases occur every year between January and July, and are announced around March and October. After the announcement of the Centre, the state governments make their announcement.
