In today’s time, freshness and nutrition are most important in home food. Adulteration of chemicals and pesticides in market vegetables is common in cities. In such a situation, growing radish in plastic boxes or small containers at home is not only safe but also a fun and learning experience.
No need for a big garden. This method can also be adopted in small balconies, terraces, or verandas. In this article, we will tell you a simple and effective way to grow radish, so that you can get plenty of fresh radish in less time and effort.
Necessary materials for growing radish in plastic container
- plastic box or container
- Light, fertile and moisture retaining soil
- fresh radish seeds
- irrigation water
Simple method of growing radish
- Make sure to drain the water by making holes at the bottom.
- Fill the container up to 2/3 full with fertile soil.
- Plant the seeds 1-2 cm deep and cover them with light soil.
- Water lightly so that the soil remains moist.
- Keep the container in sunlight for 4-5 hours daily.
- Remove weeds from time to time.
Irrigation, soil and organic fertilizers
Irrigation and correct selection of soil are important parts of this entire process. Excessive watering can cause root rot, so light and regular irrigation is sufficient. By adding cow dung or organic fertilizer to the soil, plants get nutrition and their growth improves. To protect against pests, it is safer to adopt neem solution or organic solutions instead of chemical sprays. Plants remain healthy and strong with proper provision of sunlight and air.
Growing Radishes in Plastic Containers
Growing radish in plastic containers is not only suitable for urban farming but is also environmentally beneficial. Waste can be reduced by reusing old plastic containers. More production with less resources keeps urban areas green and fresh. In this way, this method not only makes home food safe and nutritious but also contributes towards the environment and sustainable farming.
