According to telecom law, a person can only have nine SIM cards. Anyone who has more than this number in their name can face action.

The nine-SIM card rule isn't applicable everywhere in India; in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and the Northeast, the limit is only six.

Penalty: If the SIM limit is exceeded, a fine of 50,000 rupees can be imposed for the first offense, and a fine of 2 lakh rupees for subsequent offenses.
