Former actress, beauty expert, social activist, and businesswoman Musarrat Misbah has revealed that she endured domestic violence during her first marriage. In a recent podcast, she shared her personal story, discussing the hardships she faced and how she eventually decided to end the relationship when the situation became unbearable.
Musarrat Misbah, who hails from an educated and independent family, explained that her upbringing was progressive. She mentioned that her father never treated her or her brothers any differently and supported her education and career choices. However, despite her desire to continue her education, her father arranged her marriage at a young age. She was just 18 when she got married, with her father’s assurance that her future husband would allow her to pursue her studies after marriage.
Unfortunately, the marriage soon turned toxic. Misbah revealed that her husband started subjecting her to physical abuse, even in front of their children. As the situation worsened, she made the difficult decision to separate from him, with the full support of her parents. They recognized the abuse and stood by her in her decision to leave the marriage.
After her divorce, Musarrat Misbah decided to take a different path. She moved to London to pursue a beauty course, and upon returning, her parents helped her set up a salon business. At a time when it was uncommon for women to run businesses, she courageously ventured into the beauty industry with her parents’ backing.
Despite the challenges she faced in her first marriage, Misbah admitted that she was hesitant to marry again. However, her success in business and personal growth gave her the strength to continue her journey of empowerment and independence.
