Another day of Test cricket brought many ups and downs with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the spotlight. Day 3 of the second Test between Pakistan and South Africa in Rawalpindi felt more like an exciting drama than a cricket match full of surprising turns like a TV show finale. By the time the umpires finally stopped the game South Africa had fought hard to come back leaving Pakistan shocked and probably confused about what went wrong. Right in the middle of everything was Rizwan who seemed to use all his luck in one very strange moment. At the close of the day Mohammad Rizwan faces the last ball and takes the bails off with his hands Kyle Verreynne thinks its not allowed and asks to recheck Umpires say its ok Babar on 49 with Pakistan lead by 23-4#PAKvSA pic.twitter.com/QRJvMgFYsA — Abhijeet ♞ (@TheYorkerBall) October 22 2025 Heres what happened. Pakistan was batting the light was getting dim and the day was coming to a slow end. Rizwan was on 16 runs from 49 balls playing carefully. Then in a moment of forgetfulness he turned and accidentally hit the bails off his own stumps with his bat. This kind of mistake usually happens in local games not from a top international player. The South African wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne immediately asked the umpire to give Rizwan out for hitting the stumps. It should have been out right? But no. In a strange turn of events the umpires had already called “Stumps” just a moment before Rizwan knocked the bails off. So the appeal was turned down. Rizwan stayed in the game. You could almost hear the disappointment from the South African team and the relief from all the Pakistan supporters watching. This was something unbelievable. Rizwan saved himself from getting out in a way that was both his own mistake and a little embarrassing.
