Bill Gates and Smriti Irani
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is set to appear virtually in the Star Plus television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. The special storyline will focus on maternal and newborn health, with Gates interacting with Smriti Irani via a video call across three episodes. This collaboration highlights the initiatives of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in improving the health and well-being of mothers and children.

Smriti Irani, who reprises her iconic role as Tulsi Virani, described Gates’ appearance as a “historic moment” in Indian television. The recently released promo gives viewers a glimpse of Tulsi greeting a mysterious guest on video call with her signature “Jai Shri Krishna,” which is warmly returned by the caller. Tulsi then addresses the audience directly, building anticipation: “You are wondering who is going to connect with the Virani family directly from America. Please wait.”

According to news agency PTI, the mystery guest is revealed to be Bill Gates. This will mark Gates’ second television cameo, following his earlier appearance on the American series The Big Bang Theory. Reports suggest that during the episodes, Gates will discuss maternal and newborn health, as well as the charitable work of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in these areas.

Irani, former Minister for Women and Child Development, confirmed Gates’ participation in an interview with CNBC-TV18. She called it “a historic moment in Indian entertainment” and emphasized the importance of bringing women and children’s health into mainstream discussion. “To bring together one of the world’s most respected global voices with one of Indian television’s most influential storytellers is more than a collaboration—it marks the beginning of a Jan Andolan, a people’s movement rooted in awareness, empathy, and action,” she said.

The show has recently featured reunions between iconic characters, including Tulsi Virani and Mihir from Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki along with Parvati. The current storyline focuses on Tulsi navigating the challenges of raising her daughter, Pari, whose modern mindset often clashes with Tulsi’s traditional morals and ethics.

The latest episode airs on Star Plus at 10:30 pm and is available for streaming on JioHotstar.
