Hummus is a very popular and nutritious dish in the Middle East, often eaten as a dip. It's made from boiled chickpeas, tahini (sesame paste), lemon juice, and garlic. It's not only delicious, but also a great source of protein, fiber, and healthy fats.

It's very easy to make at home and can be served as a dip with many dishes. If you'd like to make hummus at home, let's learn a simple recipe.

Hummus Recipe
Required Ingredients:
To make hummus, you'll need 1 cup of chickpeas (soaked overnight and then boiled), 2 to 3 tablespoons of tahini (sesame paste), 2 to 3 garlic cloves, 2 to 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, 3 to 4 tablespoons of olive oil, 2-3 ice cubes, salt to taste, 1/2 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder, and the water left over from boiling the chickpeas.

How to Make Hummus:
First, soak the chickpeas overnight. The next day, add a little salt and boil them until they soften. Drain the chickpeas, but don't discard the boiling water; set it aside.

Now, take a blender and add the boiled chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, lemon juice, salt, and roasted cumin powder.

Blend the mixture thoroughly. You may find the mixture a little dry.

Add olive oil and 2-3 ice cubes. The ice cubes help make the hummus light and creamy.

Blend the mixture again. If the hummus still seems too thick, gradually add the remaining chickpea water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach the right consistency. Ensure the hummus is neither too thick nor too thin.

Now, transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Make a small well in the center with a spoon. Pour extra virgin olive oil into the well. Garnish with a sprinkle of Kashmiri red chili powder or paprika and a few whole boiled chickpeas or chopped coriander leaves.
