New Delhi: Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has surprised everyone with its strong performance at the box office. Despite releasing alongside the popular film Thamma and facing mixed reviews, this romantic drama starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa has managed to recover its budget in just four days.
Fans and critics alike are talking about how the movie has held steady in collections, showing the power of good word of mouth.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat box office successEk Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, directed by Milap Zaveri, has created quite a buzz with its box office collection. The film earned Rs 22.75 crore net in India in its first three days. Impressively, the collections did not drop by more than 15 per cent on any day, which is rare for movies releasing during a short holiday like Diwali.
On its fourth day, Friday, the film collected Rs 5.5 crore, just an 8 per cent dip from the previous day, bringing the four-day total to Rs 28.25 crore net. Whereas on Saturday, it earned Rs 1.77 crore. This totals to Rs 30.0 crore. This is a significant achievement because the film was made on a modest budget of only Rs 25 crore. So, within four days, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has recovered its investment and started making a profit, showing it is more than just a hit story.
Competition and public reactionThis success is even more notable considering the film’s competition with Maddock Films’ horror comedy Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Despite Thamma having a much larger budget and fewer screens, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has managed to “punch above its weight,” winning the box office battle so far.
The film stars Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in lead roles, supported by Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. However, the movie received mixed to negative reviews from critics and has been criticised on social media for “alleged misogyny and glorifying toxic masculinity,” though this has not affected its box office run.
With positive word of mouth building up, the film is expected to see an increase in ticket sales over the weekend, making it a definite success story at the box office, despite its initial reservations.
In summary, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has proven that a good story and connection with the audience can help a film make profits quickly, even if critics are divided. Its performance against a big-budget competitor shows its strength in the market, making it a film to watch out for in this festive season.
