Chhath Puja 2025 Rasawal Recipe

Material (Chhath Puja 2025 Rasawal Recipe)

  • Rice – ½ cup (wash and soak for 20 minutes)
  • Milk – 1 liter
  • Jaggery – ¾ cup (you can increase or decrease as per taste)
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tsp
  • Desi Ghee – 1 tablespoon
  • Cashews, raisins, almonds – 2–3 tbsp (chopped)
  • a pinch of saffron

Method (Chhath Puja 2025 Rasawal Recipe)

  1. Put milk in a thick bottomed vessel and boil it on gas. Take care that the milk does not stick to the bottom, keep stirring in between.
  2. When the milk boils, add soaked rice and let it cook on low flame. Let the rice melt well so that it mixes with the milk.
  3. When the rice is completely cooked and the milk thickens, slow down the gas. Now add jaggery (note that the flame should not be very high while adding jaggery, otherwise the milk may curdle).
  4. After adding jaggery, cook for 4-5 minutes so that its taste gets mixed well. Now add cardamom powder, ghee and dry fruits into it. If you wish, you can also add some saffron strands.
  5. Let the rasawal cool down a bit. Offer it to Goddess Chhathi Mai as bhog and then consume it as prasad with the family.
  6. Keep in mind that always add jaggery only after the rice is cooked so that the milk does not curdle. If you want, you can also add coconut pieces or dried coconut shavings. Adding desi ghee increases both taste and aroma.
