Neighbours write brutal notes after resident leaves unexpected item in communal hall

It can be hard having to deal with a neighbour from hell. It's common to experience a noisy neighbour who makes a peep at all hours, or one who decides to leave their car anywhere on the road.

But often when you have to deal with the drama, it's best to have a calm, face-to-face conversation to find a resolution. However, if that doesn't work you might choose to contact your local council or landlord to help with the issue. Now in one situation, neighbours have been forced to leave savage notes in their communal hall after a resident abandoned an annoying item in the way.

In a post on Reddit, in the r/CasualUK forum which boasts 2.7million members, a person wrote: " A few weeks ago, someone left a large table in our shared stairwell.

"It's still there. I think it's fair to say the neighbours are not happy..."

In a series of images, the residents left a note for the neighbour to retrieve the item.

One read: "Please remove these items from the hall," while another complained it's a 'fire hazard', which it most certainly is.

A third claimed: "Safety hazard. My child broke their arm falling off this table. Remove it unsafe table!"

While a fourth parent fumed: "My daughter stubbed her toe on this table. Her foot was amputated. Please take to the tip!"

And a more humorous note said the table has been "flirting with his wife". But one extreme message read: "This table stole my car and murdered my dog."

It's safe to say Reddit users found humour in the messages as the post garnered 4,700 upvotes and hundreds of comments.

One wrote: "Put a rent demand on it." Another added: "Sell it!"

A third commented: "At this point whoever put the table there is never going to take it away because of the anticipation of what the next note will say!"

Then someone posted: "Ahhh. British humour. We really are very funny."

What to do if your neighbour leaves items in the communal hall:

If your neighbour abandons an object in the communal area, first talk to them directly to ask if they can remove it.

But if this doesn't work, or it's a safety hazard, you can then report the issue to your landlord or building manager.

They are responsible for maintaining communal areas and will have procedures to handle such situations, which might include removing the item themselves and potentially charging the owner for the cost of removal and storage.
