Chhath Puja:Chhath, the holy festival of folk faith and sun worship, is going to start in auspicious time from 25th October this year. This four-day festival is not only a celebration of fasting and worship, but is also considered a symbol of family, health, prosperity and determination.
According to tradition, this year Chhath will begin in Shobhan Yoga and end in Sukarma Yoga, making it extremely fruitful.
According to Vedacharya Braj Mohan Pandey of Ved Vidyalaya, Jhunsi, starting any auspicious work in Shobhan Yoga is considered very auspicious.
At the same time, Sukarma Yoga observed at the end is considered especially effective for success in the work of the devotees, removal of obstacles and fulfillment of wishes. In this yoga, worshiping Sun God is very fruitful.
Complete Chhath rituals of four days – at a glance
First day – Nahay-Khay (25 October)
On this day, special attention is paid to purity, sattvikta and sanctity. Pure food is prepared by bathing in river or holy water.
This time Nahay-Khay is falling in Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Shobhan Yoga, which makes it especially auspicious.
Second day – Kharna (26 October)
The day of Kharna is one of utmost discipline and determination for the fasting people. The devotees observe waterless fast the whole day. In the evening, prasad of kheer, roti or puri made of jaggery and new rice is prepared on an earthen stove.
The devotees take this Prasad after offering it to the Sun God. After this, a strict waterless fast of 36 hours begins.
Third day – Evening Arghya (27 October: Shashthi Tithi)
On this day, Arghya is offered to the setting sun at the ghats amidst lighting of lamps, songs, hymns and folk traditions.
Along with the fasts, families and devotees together worship the rising and setting sun. This scene offers a unique glimpse of folk culture.
Fourth day – Arghya and Parana to the rising sun (28 October)
On the last day, the fast is concluded by offering Arghya to the Sun God in the morning. The special thing is that this year Arghya will be offered to the rising sun in Sukarma Yoga.
It is believed that worshiping in this yoga brings success, prosperity and auspicious results in life. After Arghya, the fasting person ends the fast by doing Parana.
Grand preparations begin – enthusiasm of devotees gathered at the ghats
Bhoomi pujan of the camp office site at Sangam Nose was performed by Purvanchal Chhath Puja Committee and Development Committee.
Committee officials said that during Chhath, preparations for cleaning the ghats, lighting, security, tents, health and emergency facilities are being made rapidly.
On this occasion, committee chairman Ajay Rai along with Nagendra Singh, Abhishek Arya, Krishnanand Tiwari, Amit Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Aman Singh, Atul Rai, Saurabh Singh etc. were present.
