Do not consume these things even by mistake in case of cold

New Delhi. Many people take medicine when they have common cold, but during this time they forget to take care of what they should eat and what they should not eat. They keep consuming such things along with medicines which not only harm them but also worsen their cold. They start having problem of mucus, hence it is very important not to consume many things during cold.

When you have a cold, you feel like drinking hot soup. Cream-based soup thickens mucus and can increase the symptoms of cold and flu, so do not consume normal soup in excess at such times and if you feel like eating too much, then consume homemade soup without cream.

Baked food is a type of fat, which is digested very slowly. It not only causes sore throat but also increases excess fat in the body. Eating too much baked food sometimes causes hoarse voice and also causes throat pain.

Milk products like milk, curd, butter are cold and thick, which increases phlegm. If you have cold then do not consume milk and its products, otherwise the cold may worsen. If you are using milk to take medicine then consume it in small quantity.

If you have a cold or flu, avoid spicy food. Especially avoid cayenne pepper, black pepper and red chili powder. These can increase health problems during winter. Eat only simple and light food. Spicy food will harm your throat again and again.

When people have cold, they start consuming tea and coffee in large quantities. But the excessive amount of caffeine present in it acts like a diuretic. Due to this, there is a problem of frequent urination which can lead to dehydration in the body and then the chances of stomach diseases increase.

In case of cold, sugar intake should be greatly reduced. Consuming excessive amounts of sugar can weaken the immune system, hence eating sugar in minimum quantity is a better option for you, otherwise it increases problems like throat pain etc.
