Chhedi Paswan (JD(U)) had won the 2010 elections. He secured 38,918 votes, while Niranjan Ram (RJD) got 36,393 votes. The margin of defeat was only 2,525 votes. This time's elections made it clear that political equations can change in Mohania at any time.
