This collaboration is being considered a major step in the field of AI-enabled mapping and geospatial technology in India. Through this announcement, the company has taken the initiative to take advantage of its long experience and reliable data network.
Where did you take the data from?
MapmyIndia has played a leading role in creating accurate and detailed maps of urban and rural areas of the country since 1995. According to the company, it has achieved accuracy up to house number level, which is a challenging task for any international company. To achieve this level of accuracy the company has invested for years in ground surveys, satellite imaging and real-time data updates.
The company said that its aim is not just to create a mapping dataset, but to create a National Geospatial Infrastructure, which will enable governance, logistics, transportation, smart cities and digital commerce.
Perplexity AI collaboration after Zoho
MapMyIndia recently partnered with Zoho, and is now looking at Perplexity AI as its next strategic partner. The company aims to combine its India-focused mapping stack with AI-powered platforms, allowing companies like Perplexity AI to get the most out of local geospatial intelligence.
This partnership can help make Perplexity’s AI Search and enterprise solutions more effective and accurate. Under this, users will get more local, updated and reliable geographical information.
From India to the global stage
According to the company, more than 3.5 crore users currently rely on MapMyIndia’s navigation and mapping apps. These users include government agencies, private companies and ordinary consumers. The company is now preparing to expand its products and services beyond India and internationally.
MapMyIndia said that its aim is to create an “indigenous and scalable” solution not just for India but to suit global needs, which can become an integral part of the global AI mapping ecosystem in the coming years.
Steps towards strategic change
Through this partnership, MapMyIndia is moving beyond a traditional navigation brand to becoming an AI-based infrastructure provider. The company said that in the coming times, its maps will be used not only to show directions but also as the foundation for technologies like data-driven decisions, smart city projects and autonomous vehicles.
