The State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest public sector bank, is planning to recruit around 3,500 candidates for various positions including Probationary Officers (PO), Circle-Based Officers (CBO), and Specialist Officers (SO) over the next five months. SBI’s Upcoming Recruitment Plans
According to Poludasu, SBI has already recruited 505 Probationary Officers (POs) in June 2025 and is in the process of filling 541 additional vacancies. The recruitment drive will continue in phases across various states. Apart from these, the bank has also hired around 1,300 Specialist Officers for key technical and digital roles including IT and Cyber Security.
The bank is further planning to fill around 3,000 Circle-Based Officer (CBO) positions before the end of the current financial year, bringing the total recruitment count close to 3,500 posts.
Focus on Customer Service and Gender Equality
SBI is currently working to enhance its customer service network and operational efficiency across the country. A major part of this initiative focuses on promoting gender equality within the organisation. Poludasu stated that the bank aims to increase the proportion of women employees to 30% within the next five years.
Currently, around 27% of SBI’s total workforce consists of women, while the ratio among frontline staff is approximately 33%. To support this goal, SBI has launched several initiatives such as:
