“India’s coffee is coffee at its finest. It is brewed in India and loved by the world,” said PM Modi during his 127th edition of ‘Mann ki Baat’.

Lauding the growing recognition of the country’s coffee across the globe, Modi stated that the diversity of India’s coffee is truly remarkable. For all coffee lovers, this could not get any more special.

A mug of freshly brewed coffee on your way to work or after a tiresome day is incredibly soothing. However, is it good for one’s health?

Nutrition experts from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine say coffee also contains antioxidants and other active substances that may reduce internal inflammation and protect against disease.

Here are some reasons why the right amount of coffee is good for an individual, as per Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Longevity: Studies have found that coffee drinkers are less likely to die from some of the leading causes of death in women: coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.

Less likely to develop heart failure: Drinking coffee (one to two cups a day) may help to ward off critical diseases like heart failure.

Lower chance of developing Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s: People who drink coffee have a lower risk of developing Parkinson’s disease and might be able to help those with the condition to better control their movements. Research also supports the lower chance of developing Alzheimer’s as well as dementia in general.

Stronger DNA: Dark roast coffee decreases breakage in DNA strands, which occur naturally but can lead to cancer or tumors if not repaired by your cells.
