A thrilling Netflix series has been given a major update after fans were left making the same plea. The Hunting Wives, based on the novel by May Cobb, hit US screens earlier this year and proved to be an instant hit, racking up 5,200,000 views in its first week alone.
It followed a woman called Sophie moving from Boston to Texas with her family and quickly propelling herself to socialite status. However, once she does and finds herself in the social circle of Margo Banks, named The Hunting Wives, she becomes consumed by obsession, seduction and even murder.
The eight-part series stars Dollface actress Malin Akerman as Margo, Pitch Perfect's Brittany Snow as Sophie, Dermot Mulroney, Chrissy Metz, Jaime Ray Newman, Katie Lowes and Evan Jonigkeit. The erotic thriller opens with a dead body, as the murder mystery evolves and multiple suspects are pulled into the drama.
Despite taking over social media and ranking third place on Netflix's global English shows at the time, The Hunting Wives wasn't available to watch in the UK, leaving fans begging for its release.
It has now been confirmed that it will be landing on ITVX over the festive period, on Saturday 27 December.
The official synopsis for the series reads: "Sophie O'Neil (Snow) had an idyllic life in Boston, Massachusetts with her son and loving husband, Graham (Jonigkeit), until a traumatic event shook their family's foundation. Certain a fresh start to be the cure; her husband uproots them from the East Coast to East Texas.
"There, Sophie grapples with her spiralling anxiety and jarring new surroundings. Then she encounters the enigmatic Margo Banks (Åkerman), who is married to the gregarious Jed Banks (Mulroney), Graham's boss.
"Sophie soon finds herself enmeshed with Margo and thrust into the extravagant lives of her exclusive inner circle of privileged, affluent girlfriends, known as the Hunting Wives. Both tantalising forces unlock Sophie's deepest desires and forgotten needs.
"But when a local young woman is murdered, sending shock waves throughout their small community, Sophie, Margo, and the Hunting Wives find themselves entangled in the mystery. As they try to protect their own, the group starts to question what they think they see, and nothing prepares Sophie for what is about to happen next."
This comes after it scored an impressive 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, with one fan saying: "I'm hooked!!!! Loving this show. Season 2 PLEASE!!!"
Another said: "Wow wow wow!!!!!! This show needs more attention and recognition than it's been getting....Such an unpredictable and having you on the edge of your chair type of vibe and honestly a depiction of a lot of real things going on in the rich world. The sex, the drama, the greed, the power, was very well portrayed. Overall, I was gasping from the beginning until the very last minute of the very last episode."
"Very raunchy, jaw dropping," a third wrote, while someone else said: "Binged it within 24-hours. There is some tremendous acting in this series!"
Another fan urged: "Guys, you NEED to watch The Hunting Wives! Such a fun, gripping & perfect series! I'm so impressed! I watched all 8 episodes!"
Someone else said: "#TheHuntingWives is an actual masterpiece. Fire up season two (pun intended) immediately."
The second season has already been confirmed, with Netflix teasing much of the original cast, including Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman, returning.
"I'm so excited to write these amazing characters again," executive producer Rebecca Cutter said. "And I can't wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook."
Netflix confirmed the second season would launch globally, adding: "Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?"
The Hunting Wives is available to watch on Netflix US and lands on ITVX from Saturday 27 December.
