The State Bank of India (SBI) is preparing to recruit approximately 3,500 officers to strengthen its operations and improve services across the country. According to media reports, SBI may soon issue a notification regarding these recruitments. SBI Deputy Managing Director (Human Resources) and Chief Development Officer (CDO) Kishore Kumar Poludasu stated that the bank completed the recruitment of 505 probationary officers (POs) in June. He also stated that the process to fill the same number of vacant positions is underway and applications have been received.

Regarding the recruitment of specialist officers, Poludasu stated that approximately 1,300 officers have already been selected for the IT and cybersecurity fields. Advertisements for 541 vacant PO positions have already been issued, and applications have been received. PO recruitment is conducted in three stages: a preliminary exam, a main exam, and an interview. According to media reports, SBI may soon issue a notification regarding these recruitments.

Future Recruitment and Plans for Women Employees
Poludasu said the bank is also considering hiring approximately 3,000 circle-based officers, and this work will be completed this fiscal year. Earlier this year, SBI Chairman C.S. Shetty had stated that the bank would recruit a total of 18,000 this year. These would include approximately 13,500 clerical positions, and the rest would be probationary officers and local-level employees.

SBI's New Recruitment Plan
SBI had already announced plans to recruit 13,455 junior associates and 505 POs. Poludasu said the bank is also striving to increase gender diversity. Currently, women comprise 33 percent of the front-line workforce, while they comprise 27 percent of the total workforce. The bank has set a target of having women employees reach 30 percent of the total workforce within the next five years.

Advancement for Women
The bank is committed to providing advancement opportunities to women at all levels. Under this, childcare allowances, family outreach programs, and training programs are being run for women returning from maternity or prolonged illness. SBI has a total employee strength of over 2.4 lakh, making it the largest bank in the country.
