Rose plant has a different place in everyone’s house or garden. Its fragrance and beauty give peace to the mind. But many times it happens that without being touched or for any visible reason, the leaves of the rose plant dry up and start falling.
You think that even though you watered it properly and provided sunlight, why is the condition of the rose deteriorating? The answer lies not only in less water or more sunlight, but there are many important things behind it like the condition of the soil, the disease resistance of the plant and the humidity of the environment.
1. More or less watering
Watering a rose plant is no less than an art. If you water daily without thinking, it can rot its roots. At the same time, if too little water is given, the plant starts drying up. Check the soil by pressing it lightly with your finger, if you feel moisture then do not water that day. In summer, water only in the morning or evening. Water near the roots of the plant, not on the leaves.
2. Lack of nutrients in soil
Rose is a plant that needs nutrient-rich, light and well-drained soil. If there is a deficiency of nitrogen or magnesium in the soil, the leaves become weak and start falling. Add organic fertilizer like cow dung or compost every 15 days. If you want, you can also add bone meal or Neemkhali to the soil. Avoid chemical fertilizers, especially during summer.
3. Lack of sunlight or excess sunlight
Roses require at least 4–6 hours of sunlight per day. But if the plant is kept in very strong sunlight, especially during the afternoon, the leaves start burning and gradually fall off. Keep the plant in a place where it gets morning sunlight and light afternoon shade. Keep the roses in open sunlight in winter. If you are growing an indoor rose, expose it to sunlight from time to time.
4. Pest and fungus infestation
If black or brown spots start appearing on rose leaves, then understand that the plant has become infected with fungus or pests. This condition is often caused by black spot disease or aphids. Spray neem oil twice a week. Carefully clean the underside of the leaves. Cut off infected leaves immediately to prevent the disease from spreading further. Never water the plant late in the evening, it causes fungus to grow.
5. Effect of temperature and wind
Roses like cool and humid air. If the weather changes suddenly, such as extreme heat, cold wind or continuous rain, the plant becomes stressed, due to which leaves start falling. Protect the plant from strong wind or continuous rain. Control soil moisture during temperature changes. Keep the plant inside the room in winter, but allow air to come.
6. Size of pot and position of roots
Many times the leaves of a rose start falling because its roots are not able to spread. A small pot prevents the roots from growing, which weakens the plant. Re-pot the plant into a larger pot every 8–10 months. Keep small holes in the bottom of the pot so that water does not stagnate. Lightly trim old roots when changing soil.
7. Wrong spray or use of excessive fertilizer
Many people think that by adding more fertilizer the plant will bloom sooner, but this is a big mistake. Adding too much fertilizer burns the roots of the plant. Use only organic fertilizer on the plant. Do not use sprays or fertilizers more than once a week. After applying fertilizer, water it immediately so that the effect on the plant remains balanced.

Scientific reasons and benefits of rose care
Rose plant is not only a symbol of beauty but it is also an air purifier. It purifies home air and helps reduce stress. But when there is carelessness in its care, its natural balance gets disturbed. If you understand your rose and fulfill its needs like balance of water, sunlight and nutrients, then it will not only survive for a long time, but will also keep blooming throughout the year.
