This insurance is automatically provided by all LPG companies to their customers. Companies like Indian Oil, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas all offer this insurance to their customers. This means that the insurance cover automatically becomes applicable as soon as a new connection is obtained or an old one is renewed.

Consumers don't need to fill out any separate forms or pay any fees for this. If an accident occurs due to a gas cylinder or pipe leak, the company compensates for the loss under the insurance. This includes everything from damage to the home to treatment of the injured, and compensation in case of death.

The insurance amount can range from lakhs of rupees, paid directly to the victim or family. Typically, this insurance cover is around Rs. 50 lakh, although the amount may vary depending on companies and regulations. If a customer wishes to file an insurance claim, they must immediately inform their gas dealer and submit an FIR and fire brigade report.

Many people, due to lack of knowledge about this scheme, do not file insurance claims in the event of a loss. Therefore, the government and companies periodically educate consumers. To avail of LPG insurance, it is essential that the connection is active and the gas stove, regulator, and other accessories are from a certified company.
