UIDAI has also clarified that linking your PAN card to Aadhaar is mandatory. Those who fail to do so by December 31st, 2025, will have their PAN card deactivated from January 1st, 2026.
If you haven't updated your Aadhaar card information yet, do so quickly, as updating your Aadhaar will become more expensive from November 1st, 2025. The Unique Identification Authority of India has revised the fees for Aadhaar updates, and several important regulations related to Aadhaar will also be implemented. Therefore, you should complete your Aadhaar update tasks by October 31st, or you'll incur additional costs from November 1st.
Until now, online updates were free.
UIDAI has made online document updates free until June 2026, but if you visit an Aadhaar service center for updates, you'll now be charged a fee. To update information such as name, address, date of birth, or mobile number on your Aadhaar card, you will have to pay ₹75. For fingerprints, eye scanning, or photo updates, you will have to pay ₹125. Previously, these services cost ₹50, meaning the fee for visiting Aadhaar centers has now increased. However, UIDAI has kept the update process free for children. Biometric updates are mandatory for children between 5 and 7 years of age and 15 to 17 years of age, but no fee will be charged.
PAN-Aadhaar Linking by December 31st is also Required.
UIDAI has also clarified that linking your PAN card to Aadhaar is mandatory. Those who fail to do so by December 31st, 2025, will have their PAN card deactivated from January 1st, 2026. This means that no financial transactions or tax-related transactions will be possible using that PAN. Aadhaar verification will also be required for those applying for a new PAN card.
You can update your Aadhaar details from the comfort of your home.
UIDAI is now preparing to launch a new mobile app, e-Aadhaar. This app will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. Users will be able to update their Aadhaar details, including date of birth, address, phone number, and other details, from the comfort of their homes. This new app will be equipped with AI and face recognition technology, making the Aadhaar update process even easier and faster. Previously, this task was performed through the mAadhaar app, but the new app will also provide the option to update data. According to UIDAI's new rules, users will no longer have to visit Aadhaar service centers to update their Aadhaar. Any information entered into the app will be automatically verified with your government documents, such as your PAN, passport, driving license, or ration card. This will reduce the risk of fraud and ensure a secure update process.
