New Delhi: In the digital age, everything from studies to entertainment has been limited to the screen. The result is that the screen time of youth and professionals has increased to dangerous levels, which is directly affecting their mental and physical health. Continuously looking at the screen not only causes strain on the eyes, but it also gives rise to serious problems like stress, irritability and migraine.
In today’s busy life, career pressure, comparison of one’s life with others on social media and worry about the future are already causes of stress. In such a situation, even when the mind and body need rest, people remain busy on the mobile or laptop screen, due to which the problem becomes even more serious.
Direct effect of screen time on health
Dryness, irritation and blurred vision are common problems caused by staring at the screen for a long time. Apart from this, the blue light emitted from screens disturbs the sleep pattern, due to which the body does not get complete rest. Lack of sleep also causes problems like hormonal imbalance and weak immunity.
According to experts, if this condition continues for a long time, the risk of lifestyle diseases like depression, anxiety, high blood pressure and obesity also increases. Pain in neck and shoulders is also a side effect of this.
How to avoid stress and migraine?
To break this vicious cycle of increasing screen time and stress, it is necessary to make some important changes in lifestyle. These are some easy ways by adopting which you can keep yourself healthy:
Limit Screen Time: First of all, track your screen time and try to reduce it. Take a 5-minute break every 30 minutes while working. During this break, look away from the screen or relax by closing your eyes.
Embrace a digital detox: Try to completely stay away from mobile, laptop and social media for at least one day a week. This will help reset your mind and increase focus. Turn off all gadgets about an hour before sleeping.
Regular exercise and meditation: Take out some time daily for meditation, yoga or meditation. This is the most effective way to reduce stress. Physical activity increases happy hormones in the body, which makes you feel better.
Adequate sleep and healthy eating: It is very important to take 7-8 hours of deep sleep daily to refresh the mind and body. Drink enough water throughout the day and include nutritious items in your diet.
If the problem of headache or migraine is recurring, do not ignore it and definitely consult a doctor. Talking about your problems with family and friends also lightens the mental burden. By making these small changes, you can not only avoid the ill effects of screen time, but also live a healthy and stress-free life.
