With the change in weather in various districts of the state, the night and morning temperatures are falling, but the feeling of heat is also increasing during the day. Due to such weather changes, the number of patients suffering from asthma and respiratory problems is increasing.
Climate change and effects on asthma
Superintendent of Maharana Bhupal Hospital, Udaipur, RL Suman said that after Diwali, the night temperature has started falling gradually, while the day remains hot. Due to this change, the number of patients suffering from asthma and respiratory diseases is increasing in hospitals. According to Suman, change in weather can intensify asthma symptoms, which include cough, chest tightness and shortness of breath.
Why does asthma occur?
Asthma is a genetic disease that causes inflammation, irritation, and narrowing of the airways in the lungs. Because of this, patients find it difficult to breathe and their airways become blocked.
Symptoms of Seasonal Asthma
According to officials, sometimes due to change in weather, some people feel symptoms of seasonal asthma, which emerge with changes in temperature and humidity. Due to this, patients may experience cough, wheezing and chest tightness.
Precautions for asthma patients
Suman has given some special tips to the patients suffering from asthma, by which they can stay healthy in the changing weather:
- Be careful if you stay at home: Use a mask while going out of the house and avoid cold winds.
- Make a habit of drinking hot water: Drinking warm water from time to time provides relief from sore throat, while avoiding cold foods.
- Avoid crowded areas: Going to such areas can increase the risk of infection.
- take care in the morning: Especially asthma patients should go out wearing warm clothes when they wake up in the morning, because the temperature is very low in the morning.
Take care of your health wisely
Do not consider asthma and respiratory problems serious during these fluctuations in weather. These problems can be avoided by taking proper precautions. Also, if symptoms become severe, contact a doctor.
