New Delhi. As soon as the cold season starts, the temperature starts falling and the body feels the need for extra warmth. If no attention is paid to diet during this season, problems like cold, cough or joint pain may increase. In such a situation, it is important that our diet includes such things which keep the body warm from within and strengthen the immunity. Let us know five such things which can become a protective shield for your body in winter.
1. Egg: The powerhouse of summer
Egg is the best energy giving food in winter. The protein, vitamin D and healthy fats present in it give strength to the body and protect it from cold. Its consumption in both the forms of boiled egg or omelette is beneficial.
2. Ginger: A Natural Heater
Ginger is considered to be the most effective medicinal food for cold. The gingerol present in it increases blood circulation in the body and maintains heat. Consuming ginger tea or ginger-honey in the morning protects from cold and cough and gives relief to the throat.
3. Garlic: Home remedy to get rid of cold
Anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties are found in garlic. It not only protects from cold but also increases the immunity of the body. Boiling garlic in milk and drinking it or using it in vegetables is very beneficial.
4. Saffron-milk: The best tonic for cold nights
The antioxidants present in saffron not only keep the body warm but also make the skin glowing. Adding one or two strands of saffron in hot milk and drinking it at night helps in sleeping better and reduces cold.
5. Jaggery and sesame: Give energy to the body in the century
The traditional and most effective winter combination is jaggery and sesame seeds. Both have a warming effect and along with providing energy to the body, they also improve blood circulation. Eating small amount of sesame and jaggery daily reduces cold and also keeps bones strong.
