If you have always had a dream of running large SUVs but want the same Power and Style in Compact Size, then Toyota’s upcoming Land Cruiser FJ may prove to be the perfect car for you. This new SUV has been introduced by the company recently, and is being described as the smallest but powerful member of Land Cruiser Family. Toyota is going to launch it under the name “Freedom & Joy (FJ)”, which reflects both its Adventure and Lifestyle aspects. So let’s tell you this complete details.

Launch Date

Toyota recently revealed Land Cruiser FJ Prototype, the smallest Land Cruiser ever. The car will be introduced to the public for the first time at Japan Mobility Show 2025, starting on 30 October 2025.

The same company says that the new Land Cruiser FJ will primarily target Asian Markets. Its launch in Japan is expected by mid-2026. Although there is no official information about its arrival in India yet, given Toyota’s growing SUV lineup, the possibility of its arrival cannot be ruled out.

Toyota has designed this SUV on its popular IMV-0 Platform, which is used in powerful trains like Fortuner and Hilux. However, it has been modified with some changes, especially for FJ.

Talking about size, the dimension of the new Land Cruiser FJ is 4,575mm long, 1,855mm wide and 1,960mm high, while its wheelbase is 2,580mm. That is, these SUVs are smaller than Fortuner, but are perfect fit for off-road driving due to their rugged body and high ground clearance (215.3mm).

design

Land Cruiser FJ is kept compact when it comes to design, but its Design Language has the same Bold and Muscular style as the Land Cruiser Series.

At the front it has a rectangular grille with a Gloss Black finish with TOYOTA written in the middle. It also has C-Shaped LED DRLs, heavy bumper, fog lamps and silver skid plate which gives it a strong look.

From the same side profile it appears to be a Boxy SUV with flared fenders, black cladding, and usable roof rails. Tailgate-mounted spare wheel on the back, vertical LED tail-lights and chunky rear bumper give it a Pure Adventure SUV-like look.

The interior of the new Land Cruiser FJ is housed in all-black theme, giving it a premium but practical look. A large touchscreen infotainment unit is placed on its dashboard, which is placed in the middle. In addition it has digital driver’s display, multi-functional 3-spoke steering wheel, and round AC vents that combine classic design with modern style.

AC controls, gear selector, and 4WD dial are given at the bottom of the console. The SUV also has leatherte seats, grab handles, and a large armrest, which ensure comfort in long journeys.

Toyota has not made any compromises in terms of safety. It features features such as multiple airbags, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS system that make it safe and reliable.

Engine

Land Cruiser will power FJ if it talks about its engine, generating a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 163PS power and 246Nm torque. This engine has been connected to a 6-speed ECT automatic gearbox, which transmits power to all wheels through Toyota’s 4-wheel-drive system.
