Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday reaffirmed Nitish Kumar as the NDA's chief ministerial face in Bihar, asserting that both the CM's chair in Patna and the PM's post in Delhi are already occupied.
"Lalu Prasad ji wants to make his son the chief minister and Sonia ji wants to make her son the Prime Minister. I want to tell both of them that neither is the CM post vacant in Bihar nor is the PM post vacant in Delhi. In Bihar, Nitish Kumar ji is the CM and in Delhi, Narendra Modi ji is the Prime Minister," Shah said at a rally in Darbhanga, taking a swipe at the INDIA bloc.
The home minister also attacked the RJD-Congress combine over alleged corruption and law-and-order issues, dubbing the Mahagathbandhan a 'thug bandhan'. "Lalu Prasad is involved in fodder, bitumen and land-for-jobs scams, while Congress was involved in corruption cases worth ₹12 lakh crore," he alleged.
Raising the issue of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), Shah questioned whether those arrested for alleged extremist links would remain in jail if the opposition alliance came to power. "PFI operatives were active in Patna's Phulwari Sharif. Do you think they'll remain in prison if the RJD-Congress combine forms the government?" he asked.
At another rally in Begusarai, Shah termed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Voter Adhikar Yatra a "Save Infiltrators Yatra", alleging that the opposition wanted to protect "illegal voters" and "bring back jungle raj" in Bihar.
Addressing a third rally in Samastipur, Shah likened the NDA to the 'paanch Paandav', calling it a strong alliance of five parties. "The INDIA bloc will be routed, and we will form the government after a historic victory this time," he said.
