Renowned Pakistani singer Faakhir Mehmood has expressed his full support for actor and musician Fawad Khan’s role as a judge on Pakistan Idolcalling him the perfect choice for the position. In a recent appearance on the FHM podcast, Faakhir Mehmood discussed his views on music, the identity of singers, and the ongoing season of Pakistan Idol.
According to Faakhir Mehmood, a single song does not define a singer’s fame. He emphasized that achieving lasting recognition requires multiple songs to build an artist’s identity in the industry, although a hit song can indeed provide a significant career boost.
When discussing Fawad Khan’s appointment as a judge, Faakhir Mehmood dismissed any criticism directed towards the actor-musician, stating that such remarks were unfair. He reminded listeners that Fawad Khan was a musician before he became an actor, and was once the lead vocalist of the popular rock band EP (Entity Paradigm). Furthermore, Fawad Khan has also sung for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) anthem, showcasing his diverse musical talents.
Faakhir Mehmood lauded Fawad Khan as one of Pakistan’s biggest stars and asserted that the public should respect his multifaceted talents. He added that Fawad Khan was a well-rounded package for Pakistan Idol’s judging panel, noting that his musical background and artistic versatility made him an ideal choice for the role.
He also praised the other judges on the show, including renowned Pakistani singer Zeeb Bangash, celebrated musician Bilal Maqsood, and global music icon Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Faakhir Mehmood highlighted that the panel was exceptionally strong, with each judge bringing their own expertise and stature to the show.
This endorsement comes after singer Humaira Arshad recently voiced her objection to Fawad Khan’s role as a judge, arguing that individuals without a deep music background should not hold such positions. Despite the controversy, Pakistan Idol Season 2 continues to gain popularity, with viewers praising the judges’ decisions and the incredible talent of young singers.
