New Delhi: Star India and Delhi Capitals cricketer KL Rahul recently spoke about his lighthearted friendship with England legend Kevin Pietersen recalling a funny incident from their IPL 2025 banter that ended with him playfully complaining to Pietersens wife Jessica. In IPL 2025 season both Rahul and Pietersen were part of the Delhi Capitals camp. Rahul joined the team after moving from Lucknow Super Giants while Pietersen stepped in as the franchises mentor. Their light-hearted banter both on and off the field quickly became a highlight for fans during the tournament. While speaking on the 2 Sloggers YouTube podcast Rahul shared that his wife actor Athiya Shetty playfully teased him after seeing a few of his banter videos with Pietersen on Delhi Capitals social media pages. Our banter is different. He is a great sport. He gives it to you also Rahul said with a laugh. There was this video and there were two-three times where I said something and DC posted it on Instagram. So my wife was telling me Why are you being so mean? He is such a sweet guy. Rahul mentioned DC shared only half of their playful exchanges Rahul further mentioned that the clips shared online showed only a fraction of their ongoing playful exchanges Half the things that he does to me and tells me that doesnt come out he said. This is three times that I have given out of the 100 times he is after my life. He also recounted a fun incident from a dinner he attended with Pietersen and his wife during a visit to England earlier this year. I complained to his wife when we were in the UK. They invited me for dinner and I told her Tell your husband to go easy on me. He is very rude to me Rahul laughed. Pietersen who had previously criticised Rahul’s conservative approach in T20s later lauded him for his fearless and match-winning performances that season.
