PM Ujjwala Yojana: The government is running a scheme to provide free LPG cylinders. Who can apply for the scheme? What are the eligibility criteria? Learn the full details.
The government runs various schemes to address the needs of the country's citizens. One of the major schemes is the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which provides completely free LPG gas connections to poor families.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana aims to provide gas connections to every household in the country and protect women from smoke-related illnesses. The Ujjwala Yojana was launched in 2016. Through this scheme, the government has provided LPG gas to millions of families.
Women who previously cooked on wood stoves have not only been relieved of this problem, but it has also had a positive impact on the environment. Now, the government is reinstating the benefit of free gas cylinders under this scheme.
Only families below the poverty line or registered in the Socio-Economic Census (SECC) 2011 can benefit from this scheme. Additionally, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Extremely Backward Classes, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), or Antyodaya card holders are also eligible.
To apply for the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMAY) scheme, you must have documents such as an Aadhaar card, a ration card, a bank passbook, and a passport-size photo. Applications can be made both online and offline.
To apply online, visit the official LPG portal. To apply offline, visit your nearest gas agency and fill out a form. Agency staff will verify your documents and, if found correct, issue a gas connection.
Under this scheme, beneficiaries receive a free stove and a first-time gas cylinder along with the LPG connection. In some cases, the government also provides a discount on refills. If you also want to benefit from the Ujjwala scheme, don't delay. Apply with the required documents.
